Tofu Turkey

Josh and I are so glad to be in Washington for Thanksgiving this year. At first, we didn't know how it would work out with my family not eating wheat or dairy anymore. My mom told me to tell Josh that we would be having a Tofu Turkey (we didn't, and he didn't beleive me when I told him). My dad, Josh and I got a whole pie to ourselves and the rest of the family had to share another pumpkin pie with an almond meal crust. All in all, Thanksgiving was great! We are headed out to go shopping. I have been dreading it but this is the one day a year that Josh is excited to go. I think he wants someone to shove him so he has an excuse to get into a brawl with someone lol. I told him that probably wouldn't happen. Anyways, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Sick Day.

Bah. I am sick today. Josh gave me his cold of a runny nose, cough, chills and the most annoying symptom to the other spouse: whinyness (I don't think that's a word). I went to bed last night feeling yucky and thought I would sleep it off, but nope! We just went to Sacrament meeting today and came home. Right before Josh left, he set up the humidifier for me, gave me some pills and orange juice and even put vapor rub under my nose. Man, I guess I whined a LOT! haha. He is great. I don't think I did anything as nice for him while he was sick this week. Well, back to bed and Iron Chef America.

"Baby come back, you can blame it all on me..."

It seems like every time something goes wrong with my car, it is right before a big trip. My car knew we were planning a trip to Washington next week and decided (yes, my car can think) to have problems. Now, my car normally does not have problems. It is a Toyota Camry and it is an awesome little thing. A few weeks ago, my heat and air conditioning decided to only work on high. Josh and I figured this wasn't a big deal but we would have it taken in before our trip anyways. Josh wanted to take it in early, and I agreed to so we could get it out of the way. We took it to our regular repair guy and he said that a huge part (Keep in mind I would name the part, but I am not mechanically minded whatsoever. Josh has named the part for me at least 3 times and I forget every time he tells me) went out and it is going to cost us over 500 dollars to replace. Ouch! But, we have savings. This is what we have savings for. Well, the guy ordered the wrong part TWICE. Apparently, this part was called something else for the 2000 model and so my car won't be done 'til Monday. I am glad we are getting this out of the way before we go to Seattle, but I MISS MY CAR!!!! :(

Fun with Dick and Jane

I don't know who has heard of the bank robberies that have gone on here in Idaho recently, but if you haven't, let me enlighten you.

The first robbery actually occured in Texas. The police had a guy turn himself in here in Rexburg admitting to the Texas bank robbery. He was a BYUI graduate and had been sleeping in one of the school parking lots for quite some time. He told authorities that he needed more money and wanted to rob a bank here. When asked by police why he didn't rob one here, he told them "The people around here are just too nice and that he did not want to do that to them." So I guess the nice people here make other people turn themselves in for the crimes they committed? haha.

Here is the link to the first story.

The second robber is my personal favorite.

A 21 year old girl robbed Zion's Bank in Idaho Falls the other day. They don't have the whole story on this link but a lady that I work with, her future son-in-law's mother was the teller that was actually robbed. Apparently, this girl slipped a note across the desk telling her that she wanted the money and that she had a gun. The lady gave her the money. Get this--the girl drove away IN HER OWN CAR DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. The police waited for her at her house and she actually pulled into her house while they were waiting for her. Don't you think that if you robbed a bank that you would at least put some dirt over your license plates and if you saw the police at your house that you would just drive away?

Here is the link to her story.

Not nearly as painful as I thought it would be.

Today Josh and I ventured out to the mall, Target and a few other stores to get started on my family's Christmas shopping. I was racking my brain before we left trying to figure out what everyone would want. Since I don't live with my parents anymore, I had no idea what to get people before we left. I was really worried I wouldn't find anything and the day would have gone to waste. To my surprise, I found most everyone's presents with a few exceptions. I call that success! I just have to go once more next week and I will be done with my side of the family. I am so relieved!

Also, we did our grocery shopping today. I know I said earlier to be thankful for Thanksgiving, but I have to admit: I bought my first two holiday food items today. I just love eggnog (I used to hate it, I have to dilute half of my glass with milk because it is just so rich and thick) and the Hillshire Farms smoked sausage. They are just my favorites! I had to buy them early! Mmmmm. Happy Holidays and good luck shopping! :)

Funny Story.

I am not sure about the intelligence of some people I work with sometimes. This story might explain why.

Today I was telling everyone at the office about the great deal I got at our purchasing department. At the hospital, you can buy things that the hospital purchases at cost. Examples of these things are paper, diapers, band-aids, etc. I asked a lady I work with to pick me up some batteries. I was sure they would be a better deal then the batteries in the store. She came back from purchasing and said "Those were a good deal! 5 dollars for 24 AA batteries." I agreed, it was an awesome deal.

Well, another lady in my office pipes up and says, "You could have gotten a better deal at Sam's Club." I was a bit annoyed that I had paid extra when I could have gotten them at Sam's. I said "Really? How much are they at Sam's?" She said, "Yeah, you can get twice that many batteries for 10 dollars." That is a much better deal. I shook my head and went back to work. I just let her think it was a better deal. By the way, 24 batteries for 5 dollars = the same price per battery as 48 batteries for 10 dollars.

The results are in...

My three week fitness study has finally ended! I liked it a lot but I am glad to be on my own schedule now. They took my fitness profile on friday and I found out that I only lost 2 lbs, but I lost 2 percent of my body fat! So that part is more exciting to me. I don't think I look that different, but I know that I am stronger. It feels great!

Okay, I might not be THIS strong...

Remember Thanksgiving!

Is it just me, or does anyone else get annoyed with Christmas stuff being sold by stores before Halloween has even arrived? It seems like every year, the stores are putting that stuff out earlier and earlier. I am used to people forgetting about Thanksgiving, but Halloween? Come on. If I start hearing Christmas music on the radio I will be mad! Can't people just wait for one holiday to be over before thinking about the next one? I will admit, the day after Thanksgiving, we go to look for our tree. And this year, I will do some Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving because we are going to Washington and I don't want to have to mail our family's presents. I just can't beleive that some people already have their Christmas lights up! Sorry for the ranting...
